#2.LW1 2017 Heymann-Löwenstein Röttgen Grosses Gewächs / Riesling Mosel, Germany
While unfettered pleasure is the reflex response elicited by classic Mosel Riesling, the often overt power and disorienting range of Heymann-Löwenstein
tends to be more thought-provoking. Reinhard Löwenstein views his craft as a creative interplay between climate, soil, vine and grower, culminating in
wines that are singular, authentic and complex. The wines he makes with daughter Sarah never fall short on that count.
The soft slate in Röttgen has a yellowish-brown to reddish-brown colour that indicates a high content of iron oxide. The wines from this vineyard are
characterized by luxuriant fruit aromas that are always reminiscent of white peaches and ripe melons, with notes of flint and coffee.
“The 2017 Röttgen displays a white-golden color with a citrus-yellow shimmer. The nose is deep and flinty, with perfectly ripe, precise stone fruit intermixed
with crunchy slate aromas. Highly elegant and beautifully balanced, this is an almost creamy-textured Röttgen with great finesse and elegance. The finish
is lush and stimulatingly salty, provided with very fine tannins and a lovely grip with very fine bitters. Very long, intense and fresh. One of the classics of

Without doubt, in the top echelon Australian white wine. It’s a fuller figured rendition SBS, but not without the expected charm; as always Sorrenberg
wines swing with seasons so vividly.
“Textural, richer style. Silky, smooth and long with a core of grapefruity-minerally acidity. Shows with pretty stone fruit flavours, a lick of light halva-like
nuttiness, finishes very long and lip-smacking. Bountiful, beautiful perfume comes before all this. It’s such a delicious, near hedonistic style, but still feels pent

#1.LW1 2018 Meltwater / Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough, NZ
This ticks all the right boxes with more texture and interest than the category typically delivers. The fruit also comes from a sustainably farmed vineyard
in the southern foothills of the Wairau Valley--very rarely the case for Marlborough Sauvignon! It was hand-harvested into small bins with indigenous
yeast fermentation occurring in tank (this approach is even rarer!) The wine was then aged on lees for six-plus months over winter.
#1.LW1 2018 Lethbridge / Pinot Gris Geelong, Vic
Made in a complex, Alsatian style, this wine exhibits an attractive blend of delicate pear, blossom and citrus aromas that are complimented by honey,
almond and funky toasty characters on the palate. The wine is well balanced, showing depth of flavour and good palate weight with a silky texture. Drinks
well now or will develop greater complexity over the next 2- 3 years.
“Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, wild yeast ferment in a 1200l foudre and stainless steel. Australian pinot gris seldom displays complexity, but here you
have it. Aromas range through rose water and poached pears, grape skin and ginger, a similar suite of flavours present on the long and textured palate. Juicy,
slightly astringent acidity completes the finish”. Stephen Creber
#1.LW1 2018 Kris / Pinot Grigio Multi Regional, Italy
Kris is selected from the three regions that make up the delle Venezie, encompassing Trentino-Alto Adige, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and the Veneto. Brilliant
very pale straw colour with a faint greenish tinge to the edges and a watery hue. Aromas of pear and ripe red apple meet up with dried honey characters
and show excellent intensity. Also present are notions of quince and citrus. Generous pear and red apple flavours have a well rounded feel with a dash of
lime, some stony characters, faint dried nut and spice on the back palate. Finishes dry with brisk acidity and a medium length aftertaste.
