Chapter 2

The lovely day came when the two girls were ready to

set off in the balloon. Mirabel thought hard about what

she needed, with lots of help from her parents and

Twinkle. She would need her own compass, sleeping bag,

warm clothes, water bottle and camera, and of course a

few snacks. They climbed into the basket, packed away

all their gear and were set to go. The plan was to head

northeast toward Calgary, where Mirabel's cousin Claire

Little lives. Claire would probably give them dinner and

maybe a bed for the night.

Here is the letter they wrote to Claire.

Dear Claire,

My friend Twinkle and I will be passing through

Calgary in a few days. Can we come in for a visit?
