The first day was perfect sailing over the Monashee
Mountains. They put the balloon down in the
campground at the Nakusp Hot Springs, near beautiful
Arrow Lake. Without even setting up camp, they slipped
on their bathing suits and warmed up in the hot spring
pool. They were the only ones there.
They set up their tent, made their beds and settled by
a fire for a meal of eggs and veggies put together by
Mirabel's mum. There was hot chocolate for dessert,
made in a pot over the campfire. That meant a good
night's sleep after all the fresh air, warm pool, and good
food. During the night, an owl hooted very close by.
The girls didn't move a muscle, wondering where he was.
The next morning, they found two owl feathers beside
the tent door. Perhaps the owl feathers were a sign of
assistance, just like the eagle feather. They would have to
see if that was true.
