METALWORKING EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS

            Findings
There is a close relationship between latent surface energy, dislocation density and the
number of micro cracks with the intensity of deformation of the surface layer during blade
processing of parts. For parts with high demands to dimensional, corrosion and fatigue stability,
it is necessary in the conditions of automated production to monitor the changes in the state
of the tool that affect the deformation of the surface layer of the processed parts. Experiments
have shown that this function can be performed by analyzing the VA signals accompanying
cutting. When the state of the cutting tool changes, it is more correct to evaluate not the size
of its wear chamfer along the rear face, but changes in the intensity of deformations of the
machined surface, which grow depending on the geometry of the cutting edge fracture. As an
indirect indicator of the state of the cutting ability of the tool, the ratio of the effective amplitudes
of the VA signal in different frequency ranges can be used. This criterion can complement the
algorithms for processing VA information when working with different tools, when solving other
problems that arise when processing critical parts with high requirements to the quality of the
    surface and surface layer [22 - 28].
