THE EXCEPTIONAL HARLEY FETTERMAN
Harley praised this app as putting blind people on a level playing
field with others in one's ability to connect to local, national, and
international news and entertainment programs. He gave his personal
thumbs up recommendation about the usefulness of this app.
Harley also appeared in the video production The Sound of
Equality Accessibility Video produced by his school district's VI
department and later posted online in 2013. Both Harley and Kevin
performed as characters. The music video demonstrates how difficult
is it for students with visual impairments to thrive and advocates the
importance of accessible materials for students with disabilities. It is
available online at YouTube.com
Figure 56: Harley and Kevin in accessibility video.
This “accessible” video has both audio description and ASL sign
language interpretation. This scene shows both Harley and Carolyn
Mason, Harley's VI Coordinator. Kevin enters portraying a politician
who does not want to support accessible materials. The classroom is
in an uproar until the confrontation is resolved and the students
receive appropriate materials to aid their studies.
