competed with such zeal and determination that he was awarded a
trophy for being the Bravest Camp Participant—the first to
successfully climb the wall and ride the zip line down to the ground.

Harley, in top athletic form, also started participating in Challenger
League T-ball. The team consisted of kids with all sorts of disabilities,
physical or intellectual challenges. Through his participation in the
league, Harley met Laura Stock, president of the Dream of Hopes
Ranch, a summer day camp designed to help disabled kids develop
coordination and strength. Their mission statement affirmed “Where
Dreams Are Made and Hopes Are Found.” There, Harley swam every
day he attended and was supported with almost constant attention due
to his loss of sight.
