No. 008 ‘Raw 2’

Artist: Miranda Donovan, 2005 (signed on back in pencil)
Medium: Mixed media on canvas Size: 25cm x 25 cm unframed

Miranda Donovan is a London based painter sculptor. Donovan studied art in both France and
the UK. She has won a number of awards for painting, including the Stainers Painting Prize
and the Kidd Ramient Painting Prize all on graduating from her third BA Honors degree (two
in Fine Art and one in History of Art) in 2005.

Brick walls and peeling plaster form the backgrounds to her paintings whose physical decline
acts as visual social commentary. Her work fits into the tradition of landscape painting
although her evasion of nature and palimpsest of modern monikers makes the man-made
world she depicts an often-uninviting place.

Donovan has exhibited work throughout the UK, Europe and the US. Her painting can be
found in a number of notable collections: lord Edward Spencer Churchill, Jeremy Clarkson
                                                    and Frank Cohen.

                                               Donated to FARA Clapham
