Fine Arts: Visual Arts & Drama
• Art Explore! – (Preschool- age 6) - this class will feature two or three centers and a take home art project
each week. Centers will include activities like Legos, Play doh, chenille stems, blocks, shapes, colors,
painting, printmaking, sculpture, weaving, drawing, chalk, crayon and using scissors and glue. Younger

• All American, Art History!: (K-5 & 6 -12 )- This year in Art History we will explore artists and illustrators
from right here in the United States! Frank Lloyd Wright, Louis Comfort Tiffany, Clementine Hunter, Ted
DeGrazia and many more! We will learn about their artistic style and what inspires their creativity. You will
be creating your own art inspired by them. All new projects! Teacher: Pam Boone Recommended Donation
of $12 per weekly class
• 3D Art - (middle & high school) students will complete 8-10 three dimensional projects during the year.
Each project will require 2-3 weeks to complete. Students will design original art using paper, paper clay,
wire, wood, collage, found objects, textiles, weaving and clay. Teacher: Pam Boone Recommended

• ARTcetra: Three Levels (K-2, 3-5, 6-12)-In this class the students will explore as many different art media as
we can fit in the time allowed. I like to provide all kinds of supplies and techniques to create with and to
encourage kids to be creative with what they have on hand. Drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking,
resist, pastels, etc. will be used. Students who enjoyed this class last year will want to come back and see
what's new. We will be adding new techniques and projects to the schedule. All classes will culminate with

• Open Art Lab (4 grade and up)- A choice based class for 4th grade and up. Explore different materials to
work on projects that you want to complete. Painting, printmaking, collage, drawing, assemblage, etc. Do
research, learn how to use materials and which ones will work best for your project. Instruction provided
as needed. This class is monitored. Fall and/or Spring Semester. Teacher: Pam Boone Recommended
Donation of $12 per weekly session.
• Medieval Painting- (grade 9-adult) A Western European Humanities course. Explore the history of the
Middle Ages by learning their painting techniques. Students learn about how the Medieval world viewed
colors – this includes legends about their origins and chemical abilities, and how that tied in to their usies in
paintings. This course covers basics of philosophy, natural history, chemistry, religion, astronomy and color
theory in the Middle Ages. We learn to paint in egg white (glair) the first semester and egg yolk (tempera)
the second. Students learn to mix their own paints. Teacher: Teresa Hemphill Recommended Donation:

• Illuminated Manuscripts & Calligraphy- (ages 12 through adult) Illuminated Manuscripts & Calligraphy
(ages 12 through adult) A Humanities/Medieval calligraphy course where students get hands-on experience
creating decorated pages. This class will start with the writing styles of the Roman Empire and goes right
up to the invention of the printing press. Students also learn to draw and paint all kinds of designs to
accompany their calligraphy: borders, motifs, and simple decorations to start; then working up to beginner
knotwork, key patterns, and 3D jewels. We learn about what types of books were illumined (not just the
Bible), and also cover how paper, inks and books were made. Students should be comfortable with
occasional note taking and with basic handwriting. Required text: Medieval Calligraphy by Marc Drogin

• Jr Calligraphy- (Grades 4 and Up) A beginning calligraphy course that focuses on a select few alphabets
