Repentance from sin
These senses make man conscious of the world around him,
so that his body conveys impressions to his soul and spirit;
and the body expresses that which his soul and spirit thinks
and feels. e.g. The ear hears, the head evaluates and the
tongue speaks, sometimes good, sometimes bad.
SOUL.
The soul is sometimes interchangeable with the mind, in the
Bible. In other words it is the seat of various emotions,
thoughts, appetites.
Look at these contrasts of thoughts that are examples of how
the soul operates. Proverbs 13 v19 'A longing fulfilled is
sweet to the soul, but fools detest turning from evil.'
It is the SOUL that unites the Body with the Spirit. It is the
central part of man and is the power that makes up our
personality.
The word soul is also sometimes interchanged with Heart in
the Bible, meaning the seat of our decision making not the
muscle that pumps the blood around. It is where the
conscience is to be found.
SPIRIT.
Genesis 2 v7 says 'God breathed into the nostrils of
Adam the breath (spirit) of life'
This is the part of man that can have fellowship or intimacy
with God. It is also the part of man that lives on after the body
dies.
God intended that the body should be the servant of the
soul; and the soul the servant of the spirit.
