A Many Faceted Art.
I have outlined concepts of the Spirit, and of the healer, now
let us examine healing. There are many forms of healing and usually
the initial and most common form is administered by the doctor or
modern day "healer". I have placed the title healer in inverted commas
in this case to differentiate the doctor concept from the recognised
concept of a healer.
Doctors are the present day representatives of the art of the
apothecary, which was developed so that healing could be formulated
into a system which could be practised by those who cared to study a
rational, physical form of healing without having to indulge in
practices that are now grouped under the heading of occult. Modern
science has its foundations here also.
One must not be to quick to condemn medical science too
rapidly just because it cannot heal everything. Medical science is still
in its infancy. One area that medical practitioners are more and more
turning to is spiritual healing, as they have re-discovered the
significant contribution that this form of healing has to offer.
In Great Britain, for example a patient may ask their doctor to
allow their local spiritual healer to be included in the team that is
treating them, and increasingly doctors are seeing the beneficial
results that this co-operation presents.
