ABSTRACT
Backgroungd: gallbladder adenomyomatisis (GA) is the benign proliferation off
galbladder wall. The clinical characteristics are atypical, most detected only by imaging
techniques during abdominal examination. Diagnosing of GA based on ultrasound and
magnetic resonance imaging, however the rate of incidental detection with computed
tomography (CT) is quite high, by a thick wall of gallbladder lesion.
Objectives: Describing the CT characteristics of adenomyomatosis of gallbladder.
Describing the valuation of CT in detection adenomyomatosis of gallbladder.
Method: All patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystomy and confirm by
pathology, between 2020 and 2022 in Hoan My Hospital were retrospectively reviewed and
reanalyzed CT imaging.
Results: In 57 reviewed patient, 52.6% with female, 47.4% with male. The mean age
was 51.8 ± 13.3, the common age group was 51-60 (26.3%). The diagnostic signs of GA
on CT include: thickening of the gallbladder wall: mean 6.2 ± 2.5mm (3.5mm to 16mm).
54.4% localized. 57.9% with Rokintansky- Aschoff sinus, 84.2% “Rosary sign”, 75.4%
“cotton ball” sign. The valuation of CT in detection gallbladder adenomyomatosis:
sensitivity: 89.1%; specificity: 92.0%, positive predictive value: 91.9%, negative predictive
value: 89.2%, accuracy: 90.5%.
Conclusion: With characteristic fidings include: thickening of the gallbladder wall,
Rokintansky- Aschoff sinus,”Rosary sign”, “cotton ball” sign, CT is a high valuative
techniques imaging for diagnosing adenomyomatosis of gallbladder.
Keywords: gallbladder adenomyomatosis, computed tomography.
