Bernard had been resting all day. He was so

unimaginably bored. At least on the ship, he had the

antics of Al to entertain him. Now he had 4 walls and the

parallel bunk to entertain him. Hugh came in to visit

him.

“The Indians attacked last night,” Hugh said.

“Av I'be been bold,” Bernard said with his busted

lip, trying to say “As I’ve Been Told.”

“I don’t know what you just said, but the Indians

swore vengeance. We fought them off with relative ease,

but they may return with more troops.”
