the door.
Bernard tried to get some rest, but the terrible
body aches prevented it. He was on the edge of sleep
when a gunshot rang out. He rocketed up by instinct,
only to feel an ache in his back.
“FALSE ALARM!” Yelled someone who
sounded like he couldn’t have been more than fifteen
years of age. “THOUGHT IT WAS A PACK OF
COYOTES BUT IT WAS A RABBIT!” He said.
“Get back to protecting the camp, Gerald!” A
deeper voice yelled.
It had been the closest Bernard had been to sleep
in hours, and it annoyed him that he had been woken up
by the antics of a child. Later, He finally got some rest.
