Hugh had decided to leave his shoes and look for

Captain Thomas. As he ran out, he had a difficult time

dodging the bullets being exchanged back and forth. He

saw Captain Thomas, helping get Bernard to safety.

They all knew that Al would probably run away and do

something dim-witted. They met up behind one of the

houses. “You get Bernard to safety and I will look for

Al,” Captain Thomas said to Hugh. Hugh agreed and

took Bernard elsewhere as Captain Thomas ran over to

where the whisky barrels were stored, which he had

recalled Al telling them about one day. However, he had

no time to waste because the Indians were a lot faster

then they were, defeating the colonists with ease, but still

had many to beat. Meanwhile, Al was asleep on a barrel

of whisky as Thomas sprinted in. “Al wake up,” he

yelled.
