and respect, and I have made sure that the male
attorneys who appear before me do the same.”
As for those everyday chores, both share
washing the dishes and Deborah does most of
the cooking. Judge Polster has always done the
laundry and takes out the trash.
David A. Young & Marilena DiSilvio
David and Marilena are two litigators balancing
busy practices with two sons. Marilena is
currently a Partner at Elk & Elk, focusing on
birth injuries, medical negligence, and personal
injury. They were asked to tell about a memorable
time when either supported the other’s legal
career. Marilena described when David opened
his own law practice:
“David began his legal career as an associate at
a large law firm defending civil cases. After a few
years, and thoughtful reflection, he came to realize
his passion was in the representation of employees

David was instrumental in helping me establish
my solo practice, which will be 10 years old in
July. We both practice employment law and share JoIN A SEctIoN
office space. He has been a great mentor to me and
provided encouragement to me throughout the
years, for which I will be forever grateful!
Regarding family/home responsibilities, Women in law section
Marilena is the chef of the family, while “home
projects, particularly painting, are David’s First Wednesday of the month, at the CMBA
bailiwick.” David has also, apparently, perfected
