1- Naphthalene derivative: e.g. Cadinene

Occurrence: Oil of cade (Juniper).

Preparation: by preparation of dihydrochloride and recovered on treatment with aniline.

Uses: for scenting soaps.

Properties: on heating with sulfur, gives the naphthalene hydrocarbon “cadalene”.
