Building community at MIL through events

With over 700 employees placed at 21 different agencies and several corporate
locations, it can be hard to create a strong sense of community among our team at
MIL. Although different teams may take part in agency and local get-togethers, it
is important to us that we feel like one big unit. In 2016, we worked hard to come
up with a solution that brings many of us together, which resulted in the purchase
of a shared corporate suite at the Capital One Arena (formerly Verizon Center) in
                                                 Washington, D.C.
Multiple times a month, employees from across the company are offered the chance
to win tickets to events at the Capital One Arena. This opportunity allows our
well-deserving team members to not only enjoy an evening of entertainment, but
a chance to mingle with other employees who they may never meet otherwise. In
just the past year, we have watched the Washington Capitals fight for the Stanley Cup, saw professional wrestlers duke it out at WWE,
watched legendary rockers AC/DC perform, saw Kanye West be, well, Kanye, and allowed our kids to enjoy Disney on Ice and the
Circus. These are just a handful of the events our employees have enjoyed throughout the year, and it has been a great opportunity to
have a little fun while making some connections.
MIL has also used our corporate suite as an opportunity to connect with community members. Through our MIL CARES program, we
have treated organizations supporting under-served youth, such as Mentors Inc. and Metroball Youth Outreach.
Building a cohesive team can be a challenge when we are so spread out, but it is MIL’s hope that we can create positive experiences by
offering a place for our employees to cross paths and create memories.

MIL Crab Feast & Awards Ceremony

MIL DC-MD-VA area employees once again gathered at Mayo Beach Park in Edgewater, Md. on Sept. 9 to celebrate the years’
accomplishments and feast on crabs and BBQ. Family and friends came together on this picturesque day by the water to enjoy great
food and a variety of activities for kids and adults, such as kayaking, canoing, face painting, and a rock wall challenge!
Marisa Daley, COO, addressed our team and noted significant accomplishments from the past year. Since
the last celebration, MIL has reached a workforce of over 700 employees, opened a new corporate office
in Tysons, Va., and achieved a landmark Department of State contract win, which is MIL’s largest win in
                               company history.
The Annual Kickball Tournament has also become a staple of the event, where teams from across the
company compete for the coveted MIL Kickball Cup. This year, our IT Services sector brought two teams
to compete against seasoned regulars, the Service Center and C4IS. When it came down to it, the Service Center and C4IS once again
battled it out for the title, with the Service Center bringing in 2017’s win. This is their third consecutive win, with C4IS taking the 2012-
        2014 games.
Thank you to all who came out to make the event a great success!
