On the course with Corfield
Each year, a veritable army of volunteers from the DC area
help the PGA host its annual tournament at TPC Potomac at
Avenel Farms. Among the more than 1,500 people pitching
in this year to help make the tournament a success was MIL’s
own Bruce Corfield. As an avid golfer and pro golf fan, Bruce is
a mainstay PGA Tour volunteer when it makes its annual stop
at the beautiful Avenel course in Potomac, MD. To Bruce, the
event is an experience like no other, with the highlight being
the amazing opportunity to see the world’s top golfers up close.
This year’s event brought professional golfers Chad Ramey,
Nate Lashley, and Adam Long to the tournament. Along with
walking the course with a standard-bearer and two honorary
observers (pictured here), Bruce also enjoyed a round of his
own on Thursday, May 5th.
Tristan Cills: Making joyful noise
By day, MIL’s Tristan Cills is a brass tacks Business Analyst who supports all the LE activity for
the Department of State pay systems in Charleston, SC. He manages and processes monthly
payroll changes in the DoS GFACS system for our foreign embassy post employees and
provides a wide array of support to the adjoining accounting systems. But by night (and on the
weekends), Tristan is grass-roots musician whose love for music began at an early age through
the music programs at his church.
For nearly half of his life, Tristan has been honing his talents as a bass
and lead guitar player and producer within his ministry and for other
musicians and artists with whom he’s built lifelong relationships. He
plays in four different bands and at various clubs in the region and
has produced other artist’s such as Travis Greene, a Billboard Hits #1
gospel singer.
