DAVID did some extensive US census work to pin point various FOYs of interest
to those of us who descended from LEWIS FOY. His investigation determined
many of those descending from LEWIS wound up in Florida, which is where
DAVID’s and CELIA’s (mentioned above) families settled.
His research shows LEWIS FOY in the Bibb County, GA census in 1830. In 1840
LEWIS and family show up in Meriwether County, GA. The names of the
LEWIS FOY family members are not shown; only the name LEWIS FOY is
noted. However, knowing what we now know about LEWIS we can identify
some of the family members.
For example the census says there is one male between the ages of 50 and 60 in
the household. That would be LEWIS. He would have been 58 at the time. The
census says there is one female between the ages of 50 and 60. That would be
BATHSHEBA. She would have been 55.
The census lists two males of the ages between 15 and 20. That would be
ROBERT HENRY FOY (who would have been 15 years old) and BENJAMIN
FRANKLIN FOY (my great, great grandfather who would have been 13 years
old).
The census also listed one female between the ages 5 and 10. That would have
been GEORGIA ANN, age 9. Apparantly LEWIS’ son JAMES had already
moved out of the house.
DAVID also had the information regarding the 1850 census information which
we have already described.
In his research notes DAVID notes that by the time of the 1860 census came
around LEWIS would have been residing in the state of Louisiana. Neither I nor
ELOUISE had ever developed information indicating LEWIS FOY had moved
to Louisiana. However, ELOUISE did develope information indicating that both
