On the other hand the LEWIS FOY used by the DAR applicant as the son of
JAMES FOY, SR, according to available records was born in Craven County,
N.C., lived and was married in Craven County and died in Craven County. His
name was not linked with any member of the JAMES FOY, SR family.
However, the DAR applicant had been granted membership into the DAR based
upon the information she had furnished using her decendancy from a LEWIS
FOY and linking this LEWIS FOY to JAMES FOY, SR who had faught in the
American Revolutionary war.
The DAR applicant turned out to be a very gracious and honest person. When
we presented our findings to her, she immediately agreed that the LEWIS FOY
from whom she descended WAS NOT the son of JAMES FOY, SR. She agreed
to so notify the DAR but said she could be admitted to the DAR thorugh another
ancestor, not related to JAMES FOY, SR on her father’s side of the family.
So, in that disagreement we learned a little more about our LEWIS FOY but
that’s where the trail stopped. We still did not know the name of his wife, nor did
we know the identity of all his children with the exception of the two brothers
BENJAMIN FRANKLIN FOY, my great, great grandfather and ROBERT
HENRY FOY.
LEWIS FOY’S WIFE’S NAME & OTHER CHILDREN
Our ignorance was soon to come to an end. ELOUISE kept up her research and
came across a woman who lived in the state of Florida named CELIA A.
ROBERTS.
CELIA ROBERTS not only had learned the full name of LEWIS’ wife but had
also determined the names of other children belonging to LEWIS. CELIA’s
research data opened up a plethora of information regarding LEWIS and his
descendants which we shall examine in later chapters.
Working backwards let’s look at how CELIA A. ROBERTS is related to our
LEWIS FOY.
