A CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL ‘PRUNUS AND BAMBOO’ BOWL A RARE CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL AND GILT-BRONZE VASE,
16th century ZHADOU
With steep rounded sides rising from a conical foot to a channelled 16th century
rim, enamelled around the body with a continuous frieze of bamboo The vessel of compressed globular body rising to a wide trumpet
and prunus on a turquoise ground above a band of lotus lappets, all mouth, applied with two sinuous chilong clambering over the body
on a vibrant turquoise ground. and neck and reaching over the rim, finely enamelled around the
12.8cm (5in) diam. interior and exterior with lotus blooms borne on delicate leafy stems,
separated by a lappet band to the neck and shoulder, the rim and
£2,000 - 4,000 foot decorated with bands of ruyi clouds, the base with a single lotus
CNY18,000 - 36,000 medallion, all on turquoise ground.
