           A CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL ‘BIRD AND PEACH’
           TRIPOD DISH
           16th century
           The circular dish supported on three large ruyi feet,
           finely decorated with an asymmetric ‘flower-and-
           bird’ composition depicting a golden bird swinging
           down from a branch of fully ripe peaches, its beak
           open as it lunges towards a leaf, surrounded by
           intertwined flowering branches, all reserved on a
           bright turquoise ground bordered in the cavetto with
           a band of flaming pearls and clusters of ruyi clouds
           on the rim.

           A further comparable cloisonné tripod dish, Wanli,
           is in the collection of the Palace Museum, Beijing,
           illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures
           from the Palace Museum, Enamels Cloisonné in the
           Yuan and Ming Dynasties, Beijing, 2011, no.111.

                                                                          First half 17th century
                                                                          The rectangular panel finely decorated with a
                                                                          pheasant gently perching on a broken cane of
                                                                          bamboo, surrounded by multi-coloured bamboo
                                                                          leaves and flowering camellias, all reserved on a
                                                                          bright turquoise ground interspersed with gilt ruyi
                                                                          clouds and within a dense leafy floral border on a
                                                                          dark-blue ground, wood frame.
                                                                          31cm (12 1/4in) wide.
