FIGURE OF GUANYIN
Ming Dynasty
The deity seated in dhayanasana with eyes
downcast in a meditative expression, the head
crowned with a tall tiara centred by a figure of
Buddha, her long plaits falling over the shoulders,
her right hand raised in abhaya mudra, with the
left holding a cup in dhyana mudra, wearing long
flowing robes falling in folds around the figure and
decorated along the hems with a foliate scroll, the
robes tied above the waist and open at the chest
revealing a beaded necklace.

around the ushnisha flanked by pendulous earlobes,
wearing long flowing robes revealing the chest.
