Han Dynasty
The vessels with pear-shaped body raised on a
spreading pedestal foot with upright sides, flanked
at the shoulder with a pair of taotie-mask handles
suspending loose rings, the domed covers each with
four flat S-shaped finials, the bronze with some pale
green and earth-toned encrustation.

The upper side cast in crisp relief with three symbols
resembling the Western letters T, L and V spaced in
four groups at the compass points around a plain
central boss, within two geometric bands, the reflective
surface shallowly rusted overall.

VESSELS AND COVERS, FANGHU
Han Dynasty
The vessels of square section, each supported on a
tall, slightly tapering foot, the shoulder with two relief-
cast taotie-mask handles suspending loose rings, each
cover with canted sides beneath four vertical finials
shaped as stylised birds at the corners.
Each 42.5cm (16 3/4in) high. (4).
