AN INSCRIBED YELLOW JADE POUCH
AND COVER
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The stone is carved in imitation of a brocade pouch,
on one side with a butterfly perched on a flowering
branch, opposite a seven-character inscription, the
other side with another butterfly fluttering above
two chrysanthemum blossoms. The detachable
cover is carved with grooves, the top with four
apertures for attachment. The stone is of a deep
greenish-yellow tone.
