                                                              A SMALL FAMILLE VERTE ‘BIRD AND PEONY’ ROULEAU VASE
                                                              KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
                                                              The vase is decorated and gilt to one side with a bird perched upon a fowering,
                                                              leafy peony branch. The reverse is inscribed with a poem extolling the virtues
                                                              of peonies, with an artemisia leaf in iron-red. The shoulder is decorated with a
                                                              foral band below a bamboo spray to the neck.
