A fine gilt bronze figure of a lama
18th century
Cast seated with legs crossed and concealed under
a smooth robe, the eyes slightly downcast beneath
a high peaked monk’s cap, the right hand held
in front of the chest in vitarkamudra and the left
hand resting open in the lap, the figure raised on
a plinth formed from three fabric-like layers incised
with varying floral patterns covered by a rug with
scrolling borders.
