An Yixing stoneware ‘peach’ cup
198 18th century, signed Wang Zhiyuan
178 | Bonhams The finely-potted cup in the form of a half peach, smoothly finished in
the interior and supported on a gnarled branch coiling under the cup
and extending up one side, dividing into two flowing prunus stems
comprising the handle of the vessel, moulded with luxuriant leaves and
a blossoming flower, the stoneware of an oatmeal tone with rich red
splashes at the tip of the fruit, the underside of the stem handle with
two one-character zhuanshu square and circular seal marks.

An Yixing stoneware ‘tree-trunk’ wall vase
Xianfeng/Tongzhi, signed Hao Da
Naturalistically fired to resemble a section of a pine trunk, the domed
flat-backed body rising from a three-legged base, the exterior incised
and moulded with fine and realistic textures with a squirrel feeding on
acorns issuing from a gnarled branch in high relief, the base with a
two-character kaishu mark. 14.9cm (5 7/8in) high

trunk signed Yang Pengnian, previously in the Wellington Wang
collection and illustrated by Ho Chien, Purple Clay. Wellington

subsequently sold in these rooms, 28 November 2011, lot 513.
