A fine white jade carving of a dragon
Probably 14th/15th century
The pendant carved as a dragon crouching proudly
with arched back on a base carved with cloud-like
scrolls, 4.5cm (1¾in) high; together with a grinning
Buddhist lion and cub group, 19th century,
5cm (2in) long. (2).

An unusual pale green jade ‘duck’
carving and a pale green jade
‘praying mantis on bitter melon’
brush washer
18th/19th century
Carved on both sides in an archaistic style as a
mother duck with a wheel on each side and long
curving tail feathers sheltering a chick tied to its
mother by a rope, a further wheel and flattened
finial under the tail of the duck; together with a
brush washer formed as a hollow bitter melon
issuing from a leafy branch beside a smaller melon
fruit, a delicately-carved praying mantis perched
atop the larger fruit.
The larger 14.3cm (5 5/8in) long (2).
