A large enamelled ‘tiger’ dish
Signed Bi Yuanming (1907-1991), Jingdezhen yishu cichang
meiyanshi mark
Centrally and meticulously enamelled with a ferocious tiger standing
on a rock, with the head turned to its right, roaring and gazing at the
distant mountains, encircled by a border of floral scrolls in coral-red
and black enamels under the rim, signed and sealed at lower left.

粉彩老虎大盤 「畢淵明」及「景德鎮藝術瓷廠美研室」款
Bi Yuanming is the son of Bi Botao (1886-1961), who was one of the
‘Eight Friends of Zhushan’. Bi Yuanming learnt from his father and
developed a talent skill in painting and calligraphy. He is famous for
his paintings of tigers where his excellent skills are conveyed, as in
the present lot. This dish is believed to be painted in the 1950s.
