A blue and white ‘lantern’ vase
Qianlong seal mark
The body supported on a short circular foot rising
to a slightly flaring rim, well-painted in various tones
of cobalt blue on the exterior with a continuous
garden scene of three ladies and boys playing
joyfully amidst bamboo, plantain and rockwork,
variously reading and playing hide-and-seek, with
a scholar looking over the window in his room
accompanied by his attendant.

A pair of celadon-ground enamelled
pear-shaped vases, hu
Qianlong seal marks
Each vase moulded with three circular medallions,
each enamelled in grisaille, blue, green and iron-
red with a delicate landscape of remote lodges
amongst pine trees and mountains in the distance,
the medallions reserved against a celadon ground
moulded with foliate scrolls issuing a single lotus
blossom between keyfret and stiff lappets at the
foot and shoulder, the neck with ruyi head beneath
the rim.
Each 21cm (8¼in) high (2).
