A CARVED CINNABAR LACQUER BRUSH AND COVER
16th/17th Century
The cylindrical handle carved in relief with Xiwangmu and two
attendants beneath a peach tree in a rocky landscape, all against
a floral-diaper ground, the cover carved in relief with two lines of a
Tang poem in running script follwed by a signature and seal reading
Wenyuan, the top of the cover carved with a circular seal mark
reading fu (blessings); together with an 18th century circular seal
paste box and cover, the top of the cover carved with three figures in
a landscape beneath a willow tree.
