AN EIGHT-PANEL COROMANDEL LACQUER SCREEN
Late 19th/early 20th century
Finely decorated to each side with a lush garden scene featuring
sages and attendants in a landscape engaging in various leisurely
pursuits against a dark brown ground, the top and lower parts of
each panel with further individual cartouches depicting landscapes
and floral shrubs, framed overall with a sequence of blossoming
flowers issuing from scrolling vines, one side flanked by scenes of
dragons to each end. 211cm (83in) high x 336cm (130in) wide; each
panel 211cm (83in) high x 42cm (16 2/8in) wide (8).
