FOUR ARCHAISTIC JADE PLAQUES & TWO SMALL JADE RINGS
Late Qing Dynasty
Comprising a tiger with arms tucked under the chest, the tail curling over
the spine, the fur decorated with archaistic C-curls, the pale celadon
stone mottled brown along the edges, the reverse carved with a dragon
over the charred surface; a dragon-fish and a fish encircling a flaming
pearl, the openwork plaque carved on both sides in shallow relief, the
celadon stone with russet inclusions; a dragon decorated with archaistic
ruyi scrolls on the S-shaped body, the mottled white stone stained in
areas; an oval disc carved as a slice of ‘lotus root’, pierced at the center
which encircled by eight perforations, the green stone transparent and
lightly stained black in areas; together with two small jade rings. (6)
Tiger: 2 7/16in (6.1cm) wide;
Dragon-fish: 2 3/8in (6cm) diam;
Dragon: 2 1/2in (6.4cm) wide;
Lotus root: 2in (5.1cm) wide

Ontario Museum in Toronto, is illustrated on the museum’s website,
object number 973.211, attributed to Qing dynasty, mid 17th-early 20th
century.

FIVE ARCHAISTIC JADE AND HARDSTONE ORNAMENTS
Late Qing Dynasty
The small Wengzhong carved with simple strokes to depict a standing
figure wearing official hat and long robe, his hands held in front and
concealed under long sleeves, vertically perforated through the center for
stringing, the mottled celadon stone stained reddish-black in areas; the
flattened oval bead incised with hexagonal patterns to imitate a tortoise
shell, perforated through the center, the stone mottled and stained
brown; the cylindrical bead with flared base encircled with a chi dragon
in high relief, the translucent green stone stained black in areas; the
barrel-shaped toggle drilled with a channel at the waist for stringing, the
creamy stone stained russet brown; the chape decorated with incised
masks, perforated through the center, the stone degraded to a matt
white surface. (5)
Wengzhong: 1 1/4in (3.2cm) high;
ornaments: 1 1/16in to 1 1/2in (2.6cm to 3.9cm) long
