A WHITE AND RUSSET JADE ‘BOY AND DRAGON’ CARVING
18TH-19TH CENTURY

清十八/十九世紀 白玉帶皮童子把件

The boy is carved from the white part of the stone and holds a ruyi sceptre in
his left hand and a banner over his shoulder in his right hand. He stands on the
head of a russet and jade sea-dragon emerging from the waves. The front of
the stone is of a white tone, while the reverse is of a russet and brown colour.

The group comprises a celadon jade archaistic cong; a pale
celadon circular box and cover; a small grey jade Buddhist lion
and a grey jade water dropper in the form of a recumbent mythical
beast, all with some natural inclusions.

A SMALL WHITE JADE ‘DOUBLE VAJRA’ PENDANT

白玉金剛杵墜

It is carved and pierced in the form of a ‘double vajra’ incised with stylised lotus
petals. The stone is of an even pale tone.
