A YAOZHOU CELADON CARVED BOWL
NORTHERN SONG–JIN DYNASTY, 12TH-13TH
CENTURY

The bowl has rounded conical sides that
rise to an everted, inward-canted rim, and
is carved in the center of the interior with a
scrolling fower stem surrounded by combed
decoration below a line border. The whole
is covered with a glaze of slightly greyish
sea-green color that ends irregularly on the
neatly cut foot and also covers the base in a
light wash.
