A JIANYAO BLACKISH-BROWN-GLAZED TEA BOWL
SOUTHERN SONG DYNASTY, 12TH-13TH CENTURY
The bowl is potted with deep, rounded conical sides and covered inside and out with a
blackish-brown glaze, with a line of russet ‘hare’s fur’ markings below the silver-mounted rim
on the exterior, and russet splashes where the glaze falls in an irregular line above the foot on
the exterior, exposing the ware of purplish-brown color.
