34 | BONHAMS A fine enameled dragon bowl
Qianlong period
The exterior elegantly painted with pastel enamels against a yellow
field with five cavorting dragons through billowing clouds above a row
of ruyi-shaped lappets, the interior decorated with bats in flight against
pink, yellow, and pale blue clouds on a white field enclosing a branch
of peaches at the cavetto, the foot rim painted with a blue phoenix
medallion.

Qianlong period
Delicately painted with butterflies hovering near a bush of blossoming
chrysanthemums issuing from a rocky outcropping, the scene
rendered in pastel enamels on a pale yellow ground, inscribed in the
center with a short poem reading ‘A sunny day shines like yellow
gold,’ sealed Cao Yin and Qing Shu.

A turquoise ground enameled dish
Qianlong/Jiaqing period
Decorated on the interior with a bird perched on a flowering branch
growing near a large blossoming peony and other seasonal flowers
while another bird hovers nearby, the whole rendered in pastel
enamels on a pale turquoise ground, the exterior delicately painted
with floral sprays against a white field, the interior of the foot ring
painted in green enamel with four playful chilong enclosing a central
dragon medallion.
