A white jade flower-decorated pendant
Of thinly sectioned oval form with notched edges, carved in delicate
relief with a crown of scrolls and dragons with long tails that form part
of the frame around narcissus plants in bloom next to a garden rock,
the reverse inscribed with fourteen characters followed by the smaller
character wen wan (a cultured person’s trinket); the subtly polished
surface of fairly even off-white hue with a very faint russet patch at the
center; applied gilt metal loop for suspension.

19th century
Carved in the form of a magnolia blossom enclosed by a branch of
smaller buds, the stone a pale white color with russet veining throughout.

A reticulated jade circular pebble
Of flattened form, deeply undercut and polished as a curling prunus
branch with blossoming twigs that surround and support a crested
bird with delicate line-incised accents on its wings and tail feathers,
the off-white matrix displaying a very faint greenish tinge and retaining
traces of faint russet colored ‘skin’ on one face.
