A white jade covered censer
19th century
The fitted cover surmounted by a reticulated finial in the shape of a chilong biting his bifurcated
tail and suspending five separately carved ring handles above a canted side with archaistic
motifs in raised relief; the rim with two additional separately carved ring handles suspended
by stylized beast heads separating opposing reserves of dissolved chilong, vine and lotus
designs; supported by three legs in the form of five-clawed paws below lion heads, the base
carved with three pairs of opposed chilong with intertwined tails; the stone a pale white color
with some minor grey flecks.
