A WHITE JADE TWIN-HANDLED CUP
AND A WHITE JADE OVAL PLAQUE
17TH CENTURY AND 18TH-19TH CENTURY
The cup is decorated with two foral handles and
incised with the Three Friends of Winter. The
plaque is carved in low relief with the Three Star
Gods amongst pavilions under wisteria trees.

Sydney L. Moss購入 The seal is carved in the form of a pebble with two small apertures to the top.
The seal face is carved with two characters in seal script reading xi hua. The
stone is of an even pale tone.

PROVENANCE:
Probably acquired in China in the late 19th century by D. Jose de Carranza y
Echevarra, Vicealmirante de la Armada Espanola; then by descent to Ramon
de Carranza y Fernandez de la Reguera, Marques de Sotohermoso, (Cadiz);
then by descent to the present owners.
The characters xi hua may be translated as ‘cherishing the fower’. This may
be a pseudonym for a lady or a term extracted from a poem.

The bracelet is carved as two strands twisted together, the stone is of an even
pale celadon tone.
