WUSHEN CYCLICAL DATE CORRESPONDING TO 1848
The brush pot is carved to one side with a scene from ‘Ode to The Red Clif’ of scholars in a
boat surrounded by rocky landscape, pine and wutong trees. The reverse is incised with a
poetic inscription.

The group comprises: a miniature abacus; an inscribed bamboo block; a bamboo seal carved
with a tiger; an inscribed bamboo toggle; a bamboo snuf bottle; a bamboo carving of Libai;
and a bronze fgure of a foreigner on an elephant.
