A GROUP OF THREE PAPER FANS AND ONE SILK EMBROIDERED
FAN CASE
19TH-20TH CENTURY
The group comprises: a fan painted with a scholar in a garden, with a seal
and inscribed with a calligraphy; a fan painted with a dragonfy perched on
bamboo, with seal and inscribed with calligraphy; a fan with ivory guardsticks
decorated and gilt with a river landscape; a silk fan case embroidered with a
pavilion, birds and various plants.

AN ‘INSCRIBED’ YIXING TEAPOT AND COVER
SIGNED BEI YAN (1879-1930), INSCRIBED WITH BINGCHEN CYCLICAL
DATE CORRESPONDING TO 1916
The teapot is incised on one side with sprays of bamboo and on the other side
with a poetic inscription reading yue bai feng qing which can be translated as
“the white moon and the crisp wind” followed by a signature reading Bei Yan
(the artist’s name for Shao Yunwu). The interior of the cover is moulded with a
seal reading sheng bao.
