TWO WOOD CARVINGS OF GUANYIN
19TH-20TH CENTURY

The lacquered bamboo fgure of Guanyin is carved seated with

one knee raised, dressed in long robes and her hair tied upon

her head in a knot. The softwood fgure of Guanyin is carved

standing holding a scroll in one hand and a bamboo stem in the

other.

The brush pot is of cylindrical form with straight sides and a
recessed circular plug to the base. The wood is of an attractive
grain ranging in tone from dark brown to honey.

A GROUP OF FIVE SMALL WOOD CARVINGS
18TH-19TH CENTURY AND 20TH CENTURY

The group comprises: a bamboo water pot and cover carved in

the form of a persimmon; a boxwood inro carved and pierced

with scholars beside a pavilion; a small bamboo parfumier

carved with bamboo branches; a burlwood washer of natural

form; and a bamboo cylindrical container carved to the top with

Shoulao beside rocks.
