18TH CENTURY
The ram is carved with curved horns, its feet tucked beneath its body. The stone is of a pale greenish tone
with some minor russet striations.

A CELADON AND RUSSET JADE ‘MYTHICAL BEAST’
WATER POT
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The single-horned beast is depicted with a beard and long neck. Its
rounded body forms the receptacle of the water pot, and is carved in
high relief with feathered wings to the sides and scrolling tail feathers
on the back. The stone is of a pale celadon tone with several areas of
russet and milky inclusions.
