BIRDS, PLUMS AND BAMBOO.

BAMBUS.
Japan. Edo period (1603 - 1868).
17th/18th c. Kanô Chikanobu
(1660 - 1728), attributed.
Six - part. Ink, partly washed and a few
pigments on paper, partly with gold
speckles. Narrow brocade frame, fabric
frame, wooden frame. Under an old,
flowering plum tree, a pair of pheasants
with a chick. He looks around at the flock
geese high up. A pair of mandarin ducks
swims on the water. The representation
mainly in ink and interrupted by clouds.
Picture size 355 x 161cm. Complete size
370 x 176.5cm. Sign.: Chikanobu hitsu &
seal. Condition A/B. Damaged and partly
restored, a few cracks.
