ZOOMORPHIC PENDANTS
Western Zhou Dynasty
Comprising: a mottled jade carving of a
leaping fish, finely incised with round eyes,
scales and curved gills; another fish pendant,
from mottled white and spinach jade, of
simple carving with round eyes, curved gills
and simply incised fins and dorsals; a further
green/grey jade fish of linear design and
similarly incised; and a mottled green and
russet jade tiger, with large round eyes and
finely incised ears, nose and paws, all with
fitted boxes.

A JADE ‘CORMORANT’ PLAQUE AND A
JADE ‘GOOSE’ PENDANT
Western Zhou Dynasty
The cormorant carved from creamy jade,
with finely incised stylised detail, the bird
swimming and holding a fish in its beak, the
stone with russet and black encrustations,
fitted box; the goose recumbent, from a thin
plaque also of creamy jade with extensive
russet inclusions, carved as a silhouette with
simply incised round eyes and a pierced hole
by the shoulder, fitted box.
The cormorant: 5cm (2in.) high (4).
