           A GROUP OF FIVE ARCHAIC JADE FISH
           AND AMPHIBIAN CARVINGS
           Western Zhou Dynasty and later
           Comprising: three ‘fish’ pendants, the first of
           creamy jade, thinly incised to either side with
           well-defined circular eyes, curved gills, dorsal
           and fins; the second plain, carved from
           greyish-green stone, with incised gills, dorsal
           and fins, a tiny pierced hole at the mouth,
           box; the third a small plain black jade fish,
           of rounded form; a small yellow/russet jade
           pendant in the form of an amphibian, with
           delicately incised details; and a reticulated
           green jade semi-circular pendant in the form
           of a double-headed mythical beast.
           The largest: 12.2cm (4 7/8in) wide (5).

           ZOOMORPHIC PLAQUES
           Western Zhou Dynasty and possibly later
           Comprising: a creamy jade leaping fish, with
           russet encrustation, with incised round eyes,
           gills, dorsals and fins, fitted box; a spinach
           green jade ‘fish’ pendant; a mottled black/
           grey jade hare with elongated ears and large,
           round eyes, fitted box; and a pale green jade
           hare with traces of calcification.
           The first fish: 8cm (3 1/8in) long (7).
