A PAIR OF PAINTED ENAMEL JARDINIÈRES
18th century
Each of canted rectangular form, finely painted
with panels depicting a variety of birds perched
on rockwork in flowering gardens, alternating with
river landscape panels to the corners, all on dense
floral and foliate grounds, set on four shaped feet
decorated with bats, the rims with key-fret and
scrolling foliage on lime-green grounds.

A RARE PAINTED ENAMEL ‘EUROPEAN
SUBJECT’ BOWL
683 18th century
The exterior painted with three lobed oval panels
variously depicting European figures at leisurely
pursuits, making music and ‘a la toilette’, their hair
elaborately dressed ‘a la mode Fontanges’, within
interiors and on a garden terrace, reserved on a
dense floral and geometric-pattern ground, the
base with a two-word inscription in illegible mock-
European script .
