GILT-BRONZE BALUSTER VASE
Incised Qianlong seven-character mark and of
the period
The body set with three gilt-bronze lion masks
and loose-ring handles, finely decorated with
polychrome lotus blooms and scrolling foliage,
the rounded stepped shoulder and neck with
stylised blossom and scrolling stems, the base
incised with the Qianlong six-character mark
and additional character ‘feng’.

The shape of the present lot is extremely
rare. A related cloisonné enamel bottle vase,
Qianlong five-character mark, in the Robert
H.Clague Collection, Phoenix Art Museum,
is illustrated by B.Quette, ed., Cloisonné:
Chinese Enamels from the Yuan, Ming and
Qing Dynasties, New York, 2011, pl.130.

A FINE CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL BLUE-
GROUND WALL VASE
18th century
Of tri-lobed baluster form, finely decorated
on a rich blue ground with long coiling sprays
of leafy blossoms between key-fret borders,
the neck similarly decorated below pendent
blades and a ruyi-head band, belong the gilt-
bronze rim, the slightly waisted neck flanked
by a pair of dragon handles, raised on a
conforming spreading foot with C-scroll and
pearl decoration, the flat gilt-bronze back with
a rectangular aperture for hanging.
21.7 cm (8 1/2in) high.

Compare with a cloisonné enamel wall vase
